Take in stride

Hi.
"They can't take things in stride, and they're particularly infuriated if the situation seems somehow unjust: for example, being corrected for a minor mistake."

'take things in stride' means 'deal with things cold-bloodedly'?

Thanks!

I would not phrase it that way, since 'cold-blooded' has very negative connotations: many murders are done cold-bloodedly. Take in stride = accept calmly; accept or deal with, without great concern, interruption or hesitation.

'With peace of mind'?

Yes, sort of, but 'peace of mind' refers to an inner calmness derived from contemplation, not external stimuli.
