Take Great care VS take a great care

Hello everyone,

I just like to know why we don’t say “ take a great care of someone/something”, but instead we say “ take great care of ...” without the article , “ a” before the adjective. Is it incorrect to add the a before the adjective, “great”?

It is correct without "a." The reason we don't use "a" is because "care" is not a count noun; it is a non-count noun like "information" or "research." We don't use "a" or "an" before non-count nouns.
