I went to a hotel and sat in a chair. There was glass and utensils uncleaned which was eaten by previous customer in my table. So I told waiter, please take away all these utensils first and then serve me.

Please correct my sentences.

There may be a rule allowing a singular verb with the plural subject in this case (because of proximity) - I'm not sure. There were a glass and dirty utensils sounds terrible. What to do? Help!

The common phrase for this is clear the table.

To put the utensils on the table is set the table.

hmmmm...a bit dubious. 'set' is usually used in reference to the plates, cutlery etc, rather than the actual food.
