Take again

My question was about "take again" when it means "resume" and you said it is the definition #3 (convey) but in the example sentence (‘Cadet Drew Callaghan nodded in return, and resumed his stiff stance, holding the door open for the two girls.’) I can't replace "take" by "convey", no? ( Sorry )
