take a trade or learn a new trade

Hi,

I am just wondering if people asking me how I am doing career-wise. Is it okay to say I am thinking of taking a trade or it is better to say I am thinking of learn a new trade or change my career?" What would most people answer when they are asked with this question?

Thanks
