Take a small bite / spoonful

Hi teachers,

I'd like to describe a scene when a little kid is eating with her spoon in her hand. Are "take a small bite" correct word choice? Would you help me with this expression?

Thank you.

She's not really biting anything. I'd say 'take a small mouthful' or 'take a small spoonful'.

Hi Mister Micawber,

It's a bowl of corn.

Thank you .

If we 'go out for a bite', we're not necessarily biting anything, either. I'd like to see what she's eating first.

Oops! You snuck your answer in on me there. A bowl of corn? You mean loose boiled kernels?

Hi Mister Micawber, hi Clive,

Is "a bowl of corn" confusing? I looked up the word "kernels". And the example is "a kernel of corn". There's also maize, which is of the same thing.

1. Do you say "a bowl of kernels" to mean "grains of corn plucked out from an ear"?

2. How do you say if it's not loose kernels?

Thank you.

First, Clive's 'a small spoonful' is your best bet.

1. Do you say "a bowl of kernels" to mean "grains of corn plucked out from an ear"? -- No, we don't say that: I was just trying to find out what precisely the child is eating. But on the other hand, we don't usually eat 'bowls of corn'-- it is usually a side serving on the main plate.

2. How do you say if it's not loo
