i think take a shower is wrong.. "a" means one of many.. In this case it also means that the shower i take today is
could be different from what i took yesterday.. it's the same shower you take every day.. So it should be "i take shower everyday"..

I learned "take a shower" as an idiomatic phrase. So to me "take a shower twice" seems better. But googlily, many people use "take two showers". So I am coming to feel what I learned might be wrong.
