Tailback

Hi,

Is ‘tailback’ something that’s commonly used when describinng a long stationary line of cars that is slowing down the traffic?

Thank you.

Top answer

I've never heard it here on the Atlantic coast of the US, and I can't see how a long line of stationary cars could do anything to traffic but stop it. A tailback is an American football player.
