I don't think that anyone of your friends will be able to work in such a terrible condition, .........?

A)
won't they

B) do you

C) will he

D) don't I

E) will they

Which do you think is correct, B or E?

Top answer

I think C is correct, and it should be any one, not anyone. One is singular, hence "will he".

Hi,

It's an odd sentence. Does it mean "in such terrible working conditions", or "in such a terrible state", I wonder?

Hi,

You haven't seen my friends. They're all drunk.

I'd say:

I don't think that any of your friends will be able to work in such terrible conditions, will they?

Or:

I don't think that any of your friends will be able to work in such terrible conditions. Do you?

Because of the punctuation shown, I would call E the correct answer.

Does it make any difference that the first example has an imbedded yes-no question (Will they work in such terrible conditions?), whereas the other two examples do not?

I don't write sentences like the examples you have been giving in this thread, so I don't feel competent to comment. They just seem to be incorrectly punctuated to me. At the very least a semi-colon is needed, no

Hi,

As did CJ, I have concern with the way these sentences are written. For your last two, I'd prefer to put a period, and then have the so-called tag as a short, separate question.

If I were faced with these in an exam, and forced to choose, I'd choose

I'd vote 2 × C as well, if compelled to choose. But I'd prefer a different continuation, with those particular examples, e.g.

1. I have to admit, I found his argument most disturbing. What about you? What did you think of it?

2. I can’t remember how many people wanted to be in the play. I suppose you don't remember, do you?
