The table illustrates the proportion of boys aged 6-11 and boys aged 12-16 who took part in five different of sports, namely football, basketball, cricket, rugby and swimming in the UK in 2010.

Overall, football was the most popular sport between two different age groups, while the least preferred was swimming. The percentage of 6 and 11 year old participants was higher in almost activities surveyed.

The proportion of 6-11 year old boys chose football was at just under 90%, while the figure for 12-16 year old boys was lower at 78%. About 35% of boys between 6 and 11 played basketball, compared to one-fourth of boys between 12 and 16. Younger boys was more interested in cricket than the elder one, with nearly a half of 6-11 participants in comparison to one-third 12-16 players.

Rugby and swimming were the least attractive sports between two groups. The participants of rugby and swimming in both groups were nearly the same at about one-fifth of each groups.
