T-shirts held an inverted mirror up to reality

For all the high spirits, attendees’ T-shirts held an inverted mirror up to reality: “Trump won, deal with it”; “Re-elect Trump".

I can't exactly get the meaning of the clause attendees’ T-shirts held an inverted mirror up to reality: “Trump won, deal with it”; “Re-elect Trump" in the sentence above.

Does it mean that the imprints on the attendees T-shirts are somewhat misleading and divorced from reality?
