Hello everyone,

Could you please tell me if it's okay to repeat the word "network" in the non defining clause in the following sentence
1. Fiber optic networks, which have become a global network, are now used more than satellites for communications.

Or must it be as follows:

2. Fiber optic networks, which have become global, are now used more than satellites for communications.
