Hello everyone,
Are the sentences below correct?
1. If only he ran faster, he would win the race.
2. If only he were rich, he would help the poor a lot.
Regards,
JA
I guess opinions may vary, but to me they both feel faintly odd or unnatural. The first has a slightly mismatched or unexpected tense combination, and "if only" seems slightly inappropriate for the second.
