Syntax

Hello everyone,

Are all the sentences below OK?

1. The bed is too high to climb onto it.

2. The bed is too high to climb onto.

3. The bed is too high to climb.

Only 2 is exactly right to my ear. The pattern too X to Y always sounds awkward when Y contains a pronoun that refers back to something earlier in the sentence. The bed is too high to climb onto it .
