synonyms of seek, point toward, address to?

Hi!

In sentences like this: “the ACO journal seeks the dissemination of information and…”, what synonyms am I able to use?

Would it be ok to use “points toward…”, “is targeted to…”, “intends the…”, “is addressed to the…”? What else?

Thanks! I would really appreciate your help!

A little more context would help. Nevertheless, on the basis of what is shown, I'm inclined to say that "seeks the dissemination of information" is "wishes to disseminate information", "hopes to disseminate information" or "hopes to have information disseminated". If you absolutely must keep dissemination as a noun, then "intends" is the only one (among those you suggest) which is close to the original meaning, in my opinion, and even that seems awkward.

  • Replacing seeks with has as its goal or has the goal of is rather awkward as well, though the meaning is nearly identical, in my opinion.
  • Replacing seeks with desires would fit nicely I think.

You're right. wants is not the best choice. For some reason, however, desires does not sound so inappropriate.
I'm puzzled. What's wrong with seeks? I mean, why change it at all?
