He is brave/coward.
etc.

There are several options, but most ( especially the idioms) are disparaging due to being misused by bullies and ignoramuses.
We now just say a slow learner, learning disabled, or developmentally disabled if the syndrome has not been diagnosed (eg dyslexic)
