Synonym?

Could anyone help me find a reasonable synonym for "clasps" in this instance? I can't use "holds", would "embrace" work?

She clasps his hands.

Thanks in advance,
Emma

When a woman does this, it means she takes a man's hands in both of hers, so the closest thing would be something like: "She enfolds his hands (in hers)."

I wouldn't say that between two people 'clasp' always involves a person's two hands.

( You can, of course, clasp your own hands. )
