This relates to my previous question.
As requested by the customer, fire exposure of the specimen was fixed to??? 120 minutes or until it fails???.
"fails" is surely not the word which suits to this context. What alse could be used here?

Your understand it correctly. The purpose of the test is to determine how effective is the fire curtain. The fire curtain is mounted in front of a furnace and on the other side a test specimen (paper, wood, plastic etc.) is placed to see how long it can resist the fire on the other side of the curtain, i.e. the specimen is only exposed to high temperature, not to the fire.
