syndication vs syndicate

Is there a difference between the two nouns syndication and syndicate or do they have the same meaning?

When looking up http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/syndication they have entries for syndicate but they have syndication in as a related form without any definition.

Thank you in advance!

When syndication refers to an organization, it is synonymous with syndicate ; however, the latter is the more usual word. Syndication can also mean the process (but syndicate does not).
