Syllable regarding English grammar

Hi, I'm reviewing basic rule about regular verb and endings.
And I noticed I had almost no idea how to seperate a word by syllables.
Wiki provide vast imformations but not practical (for me)informations.
Also, there are various ways of syllablistic, difference between writing and pronunciation.

My question is, how do you know what syllablistic is needed for English grammar?
Are there more usages of syllable in English grammar?
How far should I know about syllable?
Can natives distinguish syllables from the others naturally? If so, what is main idea of seperating syllables?

Top answer

Separating words by syllables in English is not easy for native speakers. I always tell my students to fit the word on the line or start it on the next line. If they insist on separating the word by its syllables, I recommend using a dictionary.
