Switched

Is this sentence correct:



"The prisoner was switched to another cell."



Note: By this, I mean that the prisoner was in one cell, and then was placed in another.

Christine Christie Is this sentence correct: I'm not in love with it. I would not be surprised to hear a native speaker say that, but I would wonder why they didn't just say "moved". "Switch" implies exchange, or it refers to the way a train switches tracks.
