swing and oscillate (of emotions/feelings)

Hello,
How would you differentiate between: "Thousands of people around the world oscillate/swing between anxiety and depression"? What are the nuances between them in your opinion?

To me, 'oscillate' implies more regularity. ie the swing occurs at regular intervals. ie the time spent in each state is the same

I thought they were very similar, if not the same. Most dictionaries define swing as: "to move to one direction and then to the other from a fixed point". No dictionary makes mention of swing's frequency in such contexts, so thank you both.
