Sweat in clothing

Is it correct to say "that someone sweat in clothing"?
I let him my jacket and he sweat in it.

It was so hot that I sweat in my shirt.

Thanks

I LENT him ... However, although the sentences are not particularly wrong, number two doesn't sound that natural. Yes, we get the idea, but it just doesn't sound right to my ear.

  • Perhaps you could use 'into' as the sweat is travelling into the fabric of the shirt.
  • Alternatively, change the format to something like: 'It was so hot that I sweat even though I was only wearing a shirt'.
