Suspended sentence

First of all, please check the sentence below.

> He was sentenced to two years in jail with a three-year suspended sentence.

I think grammatically there is nothing wrong with it.
Even so, the fact that I used the word "sentence" twice in one sentence
somehow makes me feel a bit uncomfortable.

How would you express it differently ?

I see nothing wrong with the sentence the way it is. If you must change it, you could write "He received/was given/got two years in jail ...."

Hi,
A comment on meaning and vocabulary.

Where I live, people don't get sentences like that.
A suspended sentence means you don't go to jail at all.

If you are sentenced to 5 years and they let you out

He was sentenced to five years in jail with three years suspended.
or
He was sentenced to five years with three years suspended.

Both sound ok to me.
