surrounded by a garden?

Hello,

can I say: Our house is surrounded by a garden.???

I would rather say: There is a garden around our house. Is it OK? What would a native speaker use to express this?

Thank you Mowgli

Hi, Both are OK. 'Surrounded' is a larger and more imposing word, and it makes me think you have a larger and more imposing garden. Best wishes, Clive.
