Surprised of a comparison

Hello everybody,
I want to make a comparison between the people living in a small city and in a big city in terms of the spent time on going to work just after getting up in the morning. I don't know how can I get my point across. but just as to get our minds on the same page, I write a few sentences, and you please write a better one for me. Assume I'm talking with my friend in an office we do work:

"Today I got up at 6 o'clock. After doing a bunch of daily routines, I took the bus to the office, and when I got here, it was 7:15'! Now guess how much time does it take for the people who are living in the big cities like New York to get to their works after getting up! What time in the morning do you think they should get up?"

I indeed want to make a comparison together with expressing a surprised/wondering gesture. "Wow, we are like this, let alone those who are living in big cities... ." something like this. only a little more close to the native conversations, more appealing and carved in shape. Emotion: smile

I only wrote it in order to make my question more clear, and afterwards by the help of someone, realize how I can express my feelings in the condition of being surprised, in the form of asking a question. However it is yet a big favor of you, to read and to specify the mistakes of my context. I appreciate it Mister. That's my try to correct them, though unfortunately, these are again my "guesses"

Today I got up at 6 o'clock. After my regular routine, I took the bus to the office, and when I got here, it was 7:15! Now guess how much time it takes for the people who are living in big cities like New York to get to their work after getting up! What time do you think they should get up?
