Surf the jet lag

Hi

One guys says that he came to Autralia and started to write a lot, and then says: surfing the jet leg. In other words: When he was surfing the jet leg at the same time he wrote a lot.

--- I know the phrase "suffer from the jet lag" but not "surf"? What does it mean? A typo?

thanks

It could be a typo, but without context I am guessing that he means he used the time when he was wide awake and nobody else was (e.g., the wee hours of the morning) to get some writing done.

Hi

the guy just says: I had written a great deal on the Australian tour, surfing the jet lag.

I bet that's what he means, then. I hope so, because I think it's a very imaginative and clever phrase! The periods of wakefulness while the rest of the country sleeps, and then exhaustion in the middle of the afternoon, are something like "waves" when you think about it.
