Supposing as a full sentences

Hi

I often see sentences starting with "supposing" as independent clauses. Could you please shed some light on these? Are these OK?

Supposing they come back before time?

Supposing you had a house like hers?

what if works the same way. I would not call these independent. They are dependent on an implicit main clause.

[What if / Supposing] they come back earlier? = What [will / can / should] we do if they come back earlier?
