The protagonist is one of the royal family members of Amber. He demonstrated ,if unstable, his magical artificial intelligence computer Ghostwheel to the King Random. But Random thought it is so powerful that it is very dangerous, ordered him to shut it down.
What if did everything to make it shipshpe, including throwing in a few?as I saw it?unnecessary safeguards to make Random happy? Then, I mused, supposing I got in touch with Random, showed him what I done, and asked him whether he was happy with it that way? if he weren't, I could always shut it down then. But perhaps he'd reconsider. Worth thinking about . . . ["Trumps of Doom" of The Great Book of Amber by Roger Zelazny] I'd like to know if I can replace "supposing" with "if" here. Thank you in advance for your help.
