Superlatives and Possessives.

Which of these sentences is correct.
 "The child had an IQ higher than Einstein."
 or
 "The child had an IQ higher than Einstein's."

I assume the latter, but is the former also correct?

Which of these sentences is correct.

"The child had an IQ higher than Einstein."

or

"The child had an IQ higher than Einstein's."



I assume the latter, but is the former also correct?

Both seem acceptable to me.The idea behind #1 is
"The child had an IQ higher than Einstein (had)."
