superlative

Hi,
I think I saw no article in front what looks to be a superlative, the word 'nearest'. Is it possible?

Hi,
I read it as any other superlative. In order to make a grammatically correct sentence, it would need something in front of it, eg., my nearest relative. Do you still have the whole sentence, or clause?

On second thought, I guess you could use any adjective without anything in front of it, for example, as a predicate adjective.
