I am an english speaking Indian and I witness the sharp edges of pompous sounding english words bring down indians by their utterances and bring out the fear of the colonial master even today in a common indian man who is either illiterate or vernacular or is semi-literate in english. These words are used to put the fear of the 'establishment' or send out a threat
