Sun

1] We talked everything under the sun (yesterday).

Is the above fine?

Maybe it should be 'We talked about everything under the sun yesterday.
I am not sure.

The standard version is "We talked about everything under the sun". "We talked everything under the sun" seems less likely but not impossible. "talk" can sometimes be transitive, as in "We talked business", for example.

I thought we talked everything under the sun under was similar to the following:
We talked about everything.
Let us assume two people are working in computers or rather IT.
We talked about everything. [ They touched on subject beyond IT too.]
They talked everything under the sun.

Well it's good to see you again. (You made me think of Dumbledoor's bird in Harry Potter.)

So we talked about everything under the sun is the same as 'we talked about everything' for a native speaker.

If I am wrong, please tell me.

RotterSo we talked about everything under the sun is the same as 'we talked about everything' for a native speaker.

"under the sun" emphasises the great breadth of topics discussed and is also a more fancy and colourful turn of phrase.
