Summer break vs summer vacation
Are they the completely same thing? Or is there something different between the two? Thanks in advance!

They are much the same, but a break is usually much shorter than a vacation. The school year may have, for example, a break (a week or so, as in the spring or the winter) at some time during the year; classes are often dismissed for summer vacation (one to three months).

Hi,
I think of summer break as a week in May or June after the Spring semester ends and before the summer session begins. But the Summer vacation would be the whole three months that school is not in session( at least for a lot of students).
As Clive rightly pointed out, this only applies to students not to those who work outside academia.
