Basically, summation is a noun and summary is an adjective.
But summary is also a noun.

Summary (n): Brief statement of the main points of sth.
Summary (adj): Done or given immediately, without attention to details or formal procedure.
Summation (n): summing-up = summary.

So summary (n) and summation (n) is not different from each other.

I thought summation meant 'concluding summary' and summary meant just ordinary 'summary'!

There is a difference. A 'summary' aims at dispensing with unnecessary matter and presenting only what is needed. Conversely, 'Summation' aims at totaling all that is available.
