In this poem the poet Otto Leland Bohanan expresses the joy of freedom Afro-American were enjoying after the long sufferings and hardships they endured during the struggle for freedom. He says the sky had been dark and gloomy for a long time but at last the golden light of freedom we had so craved for has risen. The everlasting song of victory and achievement is being sung in the hills. Whispers of peace and tranquility can be heard everywhere. The movment of freedom their forefathers struggled so hard for has at last come.
