Sulphur compounds are both organic and inorganic. Organic sulphur compounds are mercaptans, sulphides, disulphides and thiophenes, while inorganic sulphur can be found in the form of hydrogen sulphide and elementary sulphur. The least sulphur is found in light fractions, whereas the most sulphur is found in the heaviest fractions (bitumen, fuel oil).
