suitor buddy?

I saw a phase in "Buddy Up" movie introduction.
"One could also imagine it as the place where the rival suitors become buddies, channeling their competition into another form"
Can I use the phase "suitor buddy" to introduce him to someone else, or to address each other, such as "He is my suitor buddy," "We are suitor buddies"
Does "suitor buddy" make sense to a native speaker's ears?

No, Sandy, we do not use "suitor buddy" in America. I have never heard this. The "Buddy Up" naturally meant to me that two people will become buddies to get a job done.
