Suggestions on this?

It was not until he run into James, one of the "bully" friends he went to junior high with and who is now working for the local government, that he started to reflect the experience in the past three years.

I feel like the middle part does not sound right... Please correct. Thanks.

Run is an incorrect verb form. I would also add a preposition after reflect and probably use experiences in the plural: It was not until he ran into James, one of the "bully" friends he went to junior high with and who is now working for the local government, that he started to reflect on his experience s in the past three years.
