What's the difference in nuance and meaning, if any, between the following two sentences?

  1. I suggested that we eat out tonight.
  2. I suggested eating out tonight.

With 1 you can vary the mention of who is to eat out:

I suggested that [we / you / he / they / ...] eat out tonight.

You cannot do this with 2 because it does not mention who is going to be eating out tonight.
