Suggest away

Hello...
"suggest away" in the below are difficult to understand.
Does it mean "to imagine as if something does not exist"?

"Go ahead in time now," I instructed. "You're very old. Try to go to the last day in your lifetime as an old man."
"But I'm not very old," she objected. She was not particularly suggestible in these past lives. What was happening was happening. I could not suggest away the actual memories. I could not get her to change the details of what had happened and been remembered.

Anyone who wants to know the nature of the etheric body by direct vision must be able to maintain his ordinary consciousness intact and “suggest away” the physical body by the strength of his will. He will not, however, be left with an empty space, but will see before him the etheric body glowing with a reddish-blue light like a phantom, whose radiance is a little darker than peach blossom. We never see an etheric body if we “suggest away” a crystal; but in the case of a plant or animal we do, for it is the etheric body that is responsible for nutrition, growth and reproduction.

Not really.

pructusI could not suggest away the actual memories.

I was not able to make her actual memories go away by continuing to make suggestions as I had been doing ("You're very old", etc.)
