Suck (in) the liquid

0 Hi, 02br
00I am an English learner and I sometimes write technical documents in English. I deal with liquid handling equipment and so I often need to write sentences such as "Let the pump suck the oil for five minutes". But I have a feeling that "suck" might not be a good word, from "You suck!" or other expressions. Is it safe enough to use this word for formal documents, or "draw" or "take (in) liquid" may be better? Thank you for you advice. 0-

0Nisus Thesaurus agrees that it should be "draw in". Another suggestion was "imbibe" but I would reserve that for days when you are drunk!050010id5
