Such that/so that

''Many societies have experienced such rapid change in the early 21st century that life can feel very daunting at times.''

Is it possible to say so much rapid change instead of such? If not, why?

Top answer

It is possible, but it changes the meaning. It puts the emphasis on the amount of change rather than on the rapidity of it.
