Is such that correct? Is it correct to say conductor in cable? Would it be better to leave out conductor?

My Laptop charger is so old the the conductor in the cable has become exposed such that you get an electric shock if you touch it.

More natural to me:  My laptop charger is so old that the conductor I the cable has become exposed and I get a shock if I touch it.

Philip already commented on your question. I just want to add a little to the technical side of the question.
Technically, there is a difference between wires and cables. They are both conductors. Electrical cable is usually round in shape, whereas, an electrical wires like your hairdryer is typically paired, and flat in shape. The respective engineer decides what the application and current load is and then select the proper conductor. There are two parts to a laptop charger. The side that you plug into the wall carrying the AC (115 volts) into the converter (AC/DC) usually has a filter in-line between the wall socket and the converter. That part is usually a round cable. The second part is the outlet wires carrying the rectified DC voltage. This pair of wires typically is 16-18 gauge and have stranded- copper- wire core.
