Such opinion or such an opinion?

Hi. I think (I am not sure, though) a typical pattern withr the word "such" is that if the noun following it was countable, it would be "such a + countable noun" and if it was uncountable, it would be "such + uncountable noun." I learned this (what I wrote) in this forum. I am not sure I learned correctly, though.

Then what about a noun that I think could be either countable or uncountable depending on whether you are using it to mean generally or in an individual manner? (I am not sure I wrote the question to trully reflect what I wanted to say, though)

eg,

such discussion vs. such a discussion

such opinion vs. such an opinion (I think the word "opinion" can be used either generally or in an individual manner.)

It would be far more useful for everybody if you provided complete sentences to illustrate your point. However, the only effect such has on the article is the fact that a/an is placed after such . In other words, if you know that an article is used or is not used with a noun, that is enough.
