Such intense grief or such an intense grief

Hi. Could you tell me if the underlined part could be the phrase "such an intense grief" instead of "such intense grief"?

There seem to be some things in the world that can cause a grief so intense/great that it creates physical symptoms. The death of a loved one might be the one that causes such intense grief.
