"refer back to a time in the pat form a point of view in the future", How?

Do you mean something like this?

Today, in 2017, I can write about the past. eg Napoleon was born in 1769.

I can add eg In 1804 he would become Emperor of France. Here you could say that I am predicting 'the future in the past'.

Can you provide the context (or the surrounding text) for that?
