It is learnt that Manohar and at least four other BCCI executive members immediately shot down the proposal, saying that it would open a legal "Pandora's Box" which the board might find difficult to counter or defend. The board members also felt that the disclosure could lead to "legal complications."
This is amply clear from Manohar's email communication to Modi in this context, which clearly states, "Ownership is a complex issue and its legal complications need to be discussed.
Ownership can be discussed at the GC meeting and considered there."
According to a board insider, seven franchise owners had no qualms in making their holdings public, but only a couple of board officials had serious objections. But now "things have come to
such a pass, none wants to come out in the open and discuss the issue."
