Where to put "such?"

1. "It's meaningless, and to discern between it with such parameters as …"

2. It's meaningless, and to discern between it with parameters such as …"

Without getting into the actual "parameters," I've seen and heard it used each way a seemingly equal amount of times. Is this pure preference? Is one more formal? Is it context-dependent somehow? This is 1/2 curiosity, 1/2 perfectionism on my part, but always eager to learn more. Ty.

I do not much like the expression "discern between" per se, though I accept that people use it. I would use another word, such as "discriminate between". Opinions may vary. However, whichever word you use, "between" needs to reference two or more things. You can
