process became the object of scrutiny - I thought pedagogists examine with scrutiny kids' learning processes.

As regards "such" I thought it referred to the way language acquisition by young children was once regarded.

Do you like the test sentence? Intentionally made opaque, IMO. It is bad writing, if you ask me. I feel resentment toward test writers.

No, I don't like the test sentence. I'd feel resentful as well.

Incuriousity is an absurd choice. Indifference would have been much better. Even so, B is the only one that makes sense.
